I read White Ash, in one marathon reading. It's a great story in the hot wide open spaces of the west, where there is room enough to cuss a cat.

To try and explain this book of Joaquin and it's plot in detail, would quickly set you on the trail that leads to spoiler territory, so I won't even begin.  Pick one up for yourdelf! You will lose yourself in this book.

I love the title, and the cover, really got  to me! I really enjoyed the tension and the fear, and the emothion of frustration that seems to seep from the pages, not unlike the goo of real day to day living..

and the songtrack, the songs, they were so haunting. I bought the whole package, and love it all!

The characters are so easy to identify with. the  heartbreak, the rugged resilience, fear and love, all are deep personal experiences. Read the book and listen to the songs.

Katerine Victoria Littlefield : Plot twisting !

Robert Lockridge manages with his descriptive writing, historical references, and intriguing plot-twists, to transport us back to a time forgotten by many and remembered fondly by some. This novel provides us with a peek into Mr. Lockridge's life, yet leaves us wondering which events have been expanded for our benefit.

The mysteries introduced leave us as readers yearning for more storytelling from Mr. Lockridge.

What makes this story feel so real to me is the diversity  of perspectives that is so absolutley necessasary to survive in such a difficult life.

I'm in love with the book and Joaquin. The characters with an honest range of emotion and closely guarded serets in their hearts, and the constant struggle for existance.* Don't pass by the songs, my favorite is #8 , Why Me Tuscarora.

The only book I've ever read with it's own soundtrack, amazing.

Anonymous:  This is real a love story, which I enjoyed immensely.

The mad hatter :   Provoking cover!

I rarely take a chance on an unknown author. I picked this book up  because of it's cover, thinking that it was a book about a small boy. I almost put the book down because it was something that I wouldn't normally be interested in, but continued any way, and discovered that it was a story of a boy that become a man under very challenging circumstances.  The poetry in the latter chapters, "wow" and then I took a chance on downloading the soundtrack, the songs tell the story. The theme song, Old Joaquin, plays over and over in my head. I have never read anything like this, I give it five stars.

I have read this book twice. The first time I thought that it was a great, story. The second time, it came alive. I was able to grasp the inner relationship of the characters with a deeper understanding. I recommend this book to anyone who appreciates a works of mystery with a touch of the paranormal, and characters with a zest for life.                 anonymous  Nov. 4

Lockridge's White Ash is an engaging multi-generational journey through the American West, with and enticing twist of mystery. An educational and animated read that stimulates the imagination; grabbing all of the readers emotion and refusing to let go. Lockridge's characters are neither saints nor demons, but real people with agendas of desire and survival. A great, adventurous story that makes it a keepsake book.

By Laura M. Krier:   Excellent story,

Honestly, I was very surprised to find how much I really enjoyed this book. I really did not know what to expect, but what I found was a well told story that kept me captivated the whole time. I found myself thinking about it when I was not reading, and wanted to know what was coming next. The day the I finished the book I realized how bummed I was to have it end, I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story, full of adventure, passion, and suspense all rolled into one.  Enjoy!

I owned a gray horse at one time, and cried the day I lost it. Need I say more? Great story.

Great read!  by are jay sea

Lockridge is a wonderful story-teller, masterfully weaving the stories of several decades and generations. The reader will immediately recognize the authenticity of his voice, as he has lived the life of the cowboys he describes, and has personally experienced the end of that era. This is a story of love and passion and it's a story of courage and resignition in the face of heartbreaking loss and injustice. This is a story that will stay with you long after putting the book down.         Sept 9, 2013

I loved this book! It took place in the southwest and is a bit of a love story, or stories. And being somewhat about the west, and that culture I found myself intrigued. I love the characters in this book and how it flashes back and forth between time, it really kept my attention. I was always wanting to know more! The ending is quite a surprise as well! I am hoping that there will be a sequel to answer some of my questions. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about the west , and who enjoys a good yarn!                                                                                                                                   Buckerette Aug 19th

I enjoy reading for an escape, and this book was really a nice one. It took me places that I have never been, but always wanted go and experienced things that I have longed to experience. I really enjoyed getting to imagine what life would have been like in the early days of this country, and in the west. I also enjoyed the mystery  ending of the book.                                          June 31st, 2013
